Withdraw Policy

The Journal of Surgical Practice and Clinical Care  recognizes that authors may occasionally need to withdraw a manuscript from consideration. The journal has established the following policy to ensure transparency, fairness, and the integrity of the scholarly publication process.

Withdrawal Before Peer Review

Authors may request withdrawal of their manuscript before the peer-review process begins by submitting a written request to the editorial office. The request should clearly state the reason for withdrawal and must be signed or approved by the corresponding author on behalf of all co-authors.

Withdrawal During Peer Review

If a manuscript is under peer review, authors may request withdrawal by providing a valid reason in writing. The editorial office will review the request and confirm the withdrawal once the process is completed. Authors are expected to respect the time and effort contributed by editors and reviewers.

Withdrawal After Acceptance

Requests to withdraw a manuscript after acceptance will be considered only under exceptional circumstances. Authors must provide a detailed explanation for the request. The editorial board reserves the right to approve or decline such requests based on the stage of publication and the reasons provided.

Withdrawal After Publication

Once an article has been published, it becomes part of the permanent scholarly record and cannot ordinarily be withdrawn. In cases involving serious errors, ethical concerns, or research misconduct, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with established publication ethics guidelines.

Author Responsibilities

Authors should ensure that:

  • All co-authors agree to the withdrawal request.

  • The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal while under consideration.

  • Withdrawal requests are communicated promptly and professionally.

  • Accurate reasons are provided for withdrawal when requested.

Editorial Authority

The editorial board reserves the right to investigate unusual or repeated withdrawal requests and to take appropriate action in cases involving unethical publication practices.
