Abstract

This paper proposes an improved ratio estimator of the population mean of study variable using the power transformation approach
under simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR). The bias and mean square error of the proposed estimator up to the first order of approximation were derived. The biases, mean square errors (MSEs) and percent relative efficiencies (PREs) were computed using real-life data from three populations. The theoretical and empirical evaluations demonstrate that the proposed estimator outperforms existing ratio estimators considered, providing more accurate and reliable estimates. The results of this study contribute to the development of the methods in survey sampling.
