Abstract

Here are presented thoughts on how to construct 3D structure compound superconductors which may possess extremely high  critical temperatures TC. The solid-state chemistry employed to get to these compounds will be addressed too. Orbital character of the electrons associated with particular atoms, sub-unit cell crystal structures evidenced by looking at known unit cell crystal structures, insights into which parts of the sub-structure may provide carriers to the 1D, 2D or 3D transport pipes, sheets or tunnels, valence states of atoms, deficiency or excess atom dopants to enhance or assist carrier provision, all are addressed. Because the exchange energy compared to kBTC may be significant in the moderate or strong coupling condition, new formulas for TC and superconductor gap ∆ , are developed to handle this contingency. Finally, in view of the detailed examination of prior unit cell superconductor crystal structures, metamaterial crystal structures are proposed, which may help elevate TC.
